Browser agents and WebMCP, explained

Imagine a customer wants to compare your offerings but is unsure where to start. A browser agent is a digital assistant that can find information on websites and, where possible, help with a next step.

What is a browser agent?

A browser agent uses a browser to look up information and may prepare steps on a user's behalf. What it can do depends on the information and functions a website offers and on the assistant's capabilities.

And what is WebMCP?

WebMCP is an emerging way for websites to make functions potentially available directly to AI assistants. Support and adoption are evolving; a reference or opportunity in a scan does not prove that a working integration exists.

A practical example

A visitor asks which option fits their situation. An assistant could compare published features and help prepare a question for your team. This does not confirm availability, a working integration or an order.

SEO, AEO and GEO measure different things

SEO and Lighthouse signals remain important foundations of the AI-readiness scan. Current AEO assesses answerability from examined website content. GEO is a future baseline using realistic information, comparison and buying questions confirmed by you and asked of external AI services. Automatically inferred AEO questions are only candidates for that work. Competitors and explanations for why they are mentioned are not measured now.

What you can take from this

The free scan looks for signals about access, readable information and existing website functions. The report helps you see what is already clear and which questions to discuss with your web developer.
